Wondermama, overlooking the main entrance of Bangsar Village, adopts a ‘sophisticated twist to the traditional local flavours and casual dining’ philosophy. The flagship restaurant has one of the best views in Jalan Telawi while the buzz that seeps into the airy restaurant is electrifying.
Much of the menu is inspired by traditional, local flavours. The portion of the Super Rojak Buah Malaysian is just nice and it has the right mixture of fruits, rojak sauce and crisps, definitely a dish that perks up the appetite.
The recommended dish – Hainanese chicken chop – is cooked to a nice crisp and the sauce is a nice accompaniment. The nasi lemak salted egg chicken, another favourite, has all the makings of a mouth-watering nasi lemak. The salted egg taste in the chicken is not prominent but the half boiled salted egg instead of the usual boiled egg, sure makes up for it. The sambal is a perfect blend of spicy and sweet, and complements the fluffy and santan-infused rice to perfection.
The Durian Krep and Pisang de Goreng are definitely worth going back for. Although it may be easy to get carried away with the dishes here, room for these two fusion sweet endings is a must. Also worth a mention, are the smoothies in different flavours such as milo, mango, lemon mint and bandung Malaya.
